Diana Vreeland
“The only real elegance is in the mind;
if you've got that, the rest really comes from it.”
Diana Vreeland

As part of Dublin Fashion Festival, the Light House Cinema will be hosting the
Irish Film Premiere of Diana Vreeland ‘The Eye has to Travel’
For those who read this blog, will be familiar with her legacy of wise (and sometimes outrageously funny) thoughts, which have been mentioned here in countless occasions.
She has always been an important reference in my career. She was part of my sanity feed, specially when I felt confused about the absurdities around the industry.
I have often wondered what she would make of the state of fashion today. Maybe she's as hopeful as I am that we've completed a circle and we are brewing up exciting times for the industry again.
Her impact was such, that every trip to the Irish Embassy in Paris would always fill me with additional exhilaration knowing she was born so close by.
I was over the moon when I was offered the opportunity to share a pair of tickets for the screening on Sunday the 9th with one of my readers.
Because I don't want to leave my friends who live outside of Dublin, or those who can't make it on Sunday, out of the competition; I'm also going to add the book in the giveaway.
So you can win one or the other.

My favourite quote of Mrs. Vreeland's is the one to the effect that "no taste is what I'm against". Better a godawful mess than bland conformity!
Beyond excited to see this! Tickets would be Awesome!Xxx
Hello Eilis
I would treasure the book. Thank you for such a generous offer

Oh Eilis I'd LOVE to see this! X
Oh excellent, i really want to see this. I'm about to start my final year in college studying Costume Design for stage and screen. I'd love the 'tickets' to mark the end of the summer and to inspire me for the year ahead!
Second comment: yes, I'd love the book; I might not be able to get to Dublin to use the tickets. The truth of her quote came home to me once on visiting a client's house for the first time after they moved in. All clashing greens and reds, not at all what had been in my mind's eye when I designed it. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, and opted for laughing (for about 5 minutes, safely locked in their bathroom).
I would love to have this book...I actually don't know enough about her life and so I am going to research her...I love the quote you quoted. Thank you for the generous giveaway.
Ooh would love the book.
So as to be able to share it with my students, so important to provide them with good solid inspiration.
To be honest would love the tickets, but baby number 2 is due any day now, and I couldn't guarentee I wouldn't go into labour in the cinema!!!
X
Oh the book, could do with some inspiration ;)
I'll have both the book and the tickets, thank you... Wouldn't want to be greedy or anything... Wink wink ;)
Tickets please ;))
Have I missed the train, I wonder, or can I still put my name down to enter for the lovely book?
I would love to have the book and I love your blog...thank you
